What we Offer

LGBTIQ+

Being LGBTIQ+ often comes with unique challenges that can impact mental health and sense of self. Many continue to face discrimination, rejection, or the struggle to conceal their true selves.

At You Living You, we ensure a safe, affirming space where we respect and understand your identity. Paul, our psychologist, brings decades of experience working with LGBTIQ+ individuals and couples, offering deep understanding and tailored support.

We recognise the impact of societal prejudices on self-concept and relationships. Our approach combines LGBTIQ+-specific schema therapy with strategies to address homo/bi/transphobia. We help you unpack internalized negativity, develop resilience, and foster self-acceptance.

Here, you’ll find support to overcome shame, anxiety, and past traumas. We’ll work together to build your self-esteem, strengthen community connections, and develop tools for ongoing personal growth.

Remember, this process requires trust. We create a space where it’s safe to express yourself fully – perhaps for the first time. This openness allows for exploration and healing of aspects of your life you may not have felt comfortable addressing before.

Your path to better mental health and personal growth starts with a single step. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

ADHD

Living with ADHD often travels with psychological damage for individuals and couples. A lifetime of being told you are lazy or told they’re not trying hard enough. Struggles with organisation, finances, spending and not performing at work can lead to beliefs of failure and self-doubt. Not being able to control emotions has a huge impact on every area of life.

At You Living You, we deeply understand and empathise. Paul, our psychologist is an ADHDer and has over 30 years of professional experience in this area, He brings personal understanding and practical expertise to his sessions.

We recognise ADHD’s impact on self-concept, especially in settings not designed for neurodivergent minds. Whether diagnosed or seeking clarity, we provide a judgement-free space where your experiences are validated, not ‘fixed’.

Here, you’ll find support to harness your strengths, manage challenges, and confront difficult emotions. We’ll help you navigate the neurotypical world, cultivate self-acceptance, and flourish as your authentic self.

If you are uncertain you have ADHD traits, Paul also offers ‘pre-screening where you can start gaining clarity about whether you have ADHD traits, or what looks like ADHD could be something else.

Autism

Autistic individuals experience the world uniquely, often misunderstood by a society unfamiliar with autism’s nature. We do not accept the word ‘disorder’ when describing autism. It may be helpful in some practical funding contexts, however there is nothing inherently with having autistic traits, it’s just different.

Sadly autism is not understood by most and this leads to psychological harm. For example when directness is mistaken for aggression or passionate interests or different communication is seen as ‘weird’.

At You Living You, we have a strong and passionate autistic affirming approach. Paul, has over 30 years of professional experience and personal connections to autism He brings deep understanding to his counselling approach both with individuals and couples.

We recognises that each autistic person is different. There is a recognition of strengths many autistic individuals have built into their brain wiring: logic, honesty, direct communication, and deep connections with interests and for many a deep connection with animals.

We understand the challenges of navigating a world that often misinterprets autistic actions.

Whether diagnosed or exploring, we offer a space where your experiences are validated and differences are not seen as disordered.

We help unpack misunderstandings, guiding you towards self-acceptance and embracing your authentic self.

Through compassionate counselling, we support you in discovering your potential and thriving as your unique autistic self. For those seeking clarity, we also offer pre-screening to explore autistic traits.

Our goal is to transform lives by fostering genuine self-acceptance in a predominantly non-autistic world.

Safety

In a world that often misunderstands neurodiversity, finding a safe space is crucial. Here, you can heal from past hurts, embrace your unique self, and thrive without masks or pretense. Your differences are not just accepted, but celebrated as valuable aspects of human diversity.

Being ‘seen’

When clients feel truly ‘seen’, they can let go of their protective behaviours. It finally feels safe to be authentically them. This is valued and valued with a non-judgmental and compassionate approach, This can lead to acceptance of the uniqueness of who they are. Healing from being misunderstood and judged can lead to significant positive changes in life

Not Having to Explain

For many clients, the relief of not having to explain or justify their core selves is profound. After years of being misunderstood and judged, finding a space where they are inherently recognised and accepted without constant clarification can be a transformative and healing experience..
